Abstract

We report a 24-year-old male with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE). He noticed a few annular erythematous lesions on his chest one year prior to the initial examination, and another annular erythematous lesions spreaded to both his arms and face thereafter. His general condition was good and no sicca symptom was observed. In immunological laboratory tests, anti-nuclear-antibody, anti-SS-A/Ro antibody and anti-SS-B/La antibody were positive. Histologically, hydropic degeneration of the basal layer and perivascular lymphocytic infiltration in the upper dermis were found in the specimens from his face and chest, but little infiltration was seen around eccrine glands and ducts. There were no abnormal findings in the functional tests for exocrine glands. The present case was diagnosed as SCLE. Relevance of Sjogren’s syndrome to SCLE was discussed especially concerning to anti-SS-A/Ro and anti-SS-B/La antibodies.
