Abstract

Between 1974 and 1992,60 cases of tracheo-bronchial foreign bodies (male: 37, female: 23) were treated in our clinic. Sixty-five percent of the tracheo-bronchial foreign bodies occurred in children under 3 years of age. In 34 cases (57%), peanuts were found. Foreign bodies were found in the right bronchi in 27 cases, in the left bronchi in 25 cases and in the trachea in 2 cases. Most of the cases were treated within 1 day, and the longest lodgement was 45 days.
