An early experience of high dose rate remote after loader with small radioactive source

Abstract

From December 1992 through June 1993, 24 malignant lesions of 20 patients were treated with highdose rate 192Ir remote after loading Buchler Facts. Three patients with tracheobronchial carcinoma anti one patient with common bile duct (CBD) carcinoma were treated radically. Sixteen patients with various recurrent malignancy were treated palliatively. Three of four patients treated as radically achieved local control. We concluded that 192Ir HDR treatment is an effective modality as a boost therapy of external irradiation.
