Abstract
We propose an automatic visualization method for volume rendering of lung nodules in CT images This method determines the opacity curve of volume rendering for an individual nodule based on the histogram of Hounsfield Unit values in the nodule and its surrounding structure. By producing volume rendering images tailored to the three dimensional evaluation of nodules without time-consuming operations, it facilitates the appreciation by radiologists of the shape characteristics of nodules as well as the relationship between nodules and their surrounding structures.
