Abstract

To understand functions of our brain by simulating a neuronal circuit, we require mathematical models of neurons and synapses. Many models of neurons have been proposed, but modeling of synapses, especially modeling of synaptic plasticity seems not to be well established. In the present study, we propose a biophysical model of a form of synaptic plasticity (spike-timing-dependent plasticity, STDP), and discuss the effectiveness of biophysical modeling in synaptic plasticity.
