Abstract
We have reported the transparent poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel with type I collagen covalently immobilized had a good affinity toward rabbit corneal epithelium. In this study, we evaluated the in vivo stability of the pre-seeded corneal epithelium on the PVA-COL. Corneal epithelium was stratification on the PVA-Col in vitro culture and the epithelium pre-seeded PVA-COL was implanted in the rabbit cornea and evaluated the in vivo stability. The pre-seeded epithelium layer was peeled off within a week. Improvement of the in vivo stability was required.
