Abstract

Multiple genetic alterations involving activation of oncogenes and inactivation of suppressor genes are associated with the formation and progression of malignant gliomas. The current experimental and standard treatment modalities include surgery, external radiotherapy, brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and systemic or local chemotherapy.
