Patch Test Results of Topical Agents

Abstract

We tested seven corticosteroid ointments, nine corticosteroid creams, three corticosteroid gels, 2 nonsteroid ointments and 2 nonsteroid creams on 114 patients with skin disease, by the closed patch test method. And twenty-seven allergens were patch tested on 62 patients. Ointments and creams were evaluated by Japanese standards and allergens by ICDRG standards. Average positive rates of patch test reactions were as follows, corticosteroid ointments; 48h 1.5% 72h 0.8% corticosteroid creams; 48h 1.8 % 72h 2.0% corticosteroid gels ; 48h 9. 2 % 72h 15.1% Positive rates of allergens were as the following. Neomycin 13.8%, Aclinol 5. 4 %. Lesorcine 3.4%, Lanolin Alcohol 3.3%, P. G. 3.3%. Formalin 3.3%, Menthol 3. 3%.
