Abstract

Thrombus formation is one of the critical complications for implanting an artificial heart device. Platelet adhesion and subsequent activation triggers the thrombus formation. Platelet adhesion and activation should be assessed to select a less-thrombogenic material for the components of a centrifugal pump.
