Rapid discrimination of Acinetobacter baumannii international clone II lineage by pyrosequencing SNP analyses of blaOXA-51-like genes

Abstract

We found that Acinetobacter baumannii international clone II generally possesses unique GTA sequence at nucleotide positions 106-108 in the blaOXA-51-like genes. We exploited this to develop an easy and rapid method for discrimination of international clone II from other A. baumannii by employing pyrosequencing analyses of single nucleotide polymorphisms.
