The Skin Safety Evaluation of Pranoprofen•gel

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

We performed repeated open patch test, 48 hours closed patch test and photopatch test with 30 male healthy volunteers to evaluate the skin safety of Pranoprofen-gel which was developed as antiinflammatory and anodyne topical medicament. As controls of the tests, we took Indomethacin ointment and distilled water. The positive rates of pranoprofen gel were significantly lower than those of Indomethacin ointment in repeated open patch test and 48 hours closed patch test. Pranoprofen-gel did not show positive reactions in photopatch test. Pranoprofen-gel was developed to be applied on the intact skin of the patients with, arthritis or sprain, so we decided that Pranoprofen-gel might be a safe topical medicament so far as being used correctly.
