N2 - 1-Kestose is the smallest component of fructooligosaccharides and is highly bifidogenic. However, in vivo studies of the synergistic effects of 1-kestose in combination with Bifidobacterium longum in the gut are lacking. Here, we reveal the synergistic impact of the combination in mice by demonstrating the selectivity of the prebiotic using an appropriate monitoring regimen.
