Abstract
We devised a combination treatment with a steroid ointment and skin protection film for perilla worker's dermatitis. We examined the 24 perilla workers who suffered from perilla dermatitis during 2~21 years. All of them were treated with topical steroids for long time, however their dermatitis did not subsid. Perilla workers were asked to apply a dexamethasone ointment (SD ointment) and a methacrylic acid ethyl acrylate copolymer lotion (S-7990) before their works. S-7990 makes a film on the skin at 1~2 minutes after application, and this film is insoluble in water, oil, neutral detergent and perilla juice, but soluble in alcohol and perillaldehyde. We could observe about 10 subjects at three times (before, 22 days and 50 days after starting this trial), 7 subjects at two times (before and 27 days after statring). About 7 subjects we could make only one observation before treatment because of their works. Now we summed and analysed the data with 10 subjects who were observed three times. The residuary 14 subjects were observed by an itinerant agricultural consultant and she reported to us all of them were improved without any side-efect. The data showed remarkable effect of this trial. The extent of skin lesion, the degree of eruptions and itching were improved linearly according with the amount of medicine. The rebound of skin eruptions was not seen during this treatment.
