Abstract
Patients with vocal nodules were examined for phonatory function using of PS-77 phonatory equipment, and for voice qualities using an SH-10 Voice Analyzer. Both children and adults were examined and their data for pre and post treatments were compared. The children were classified into two groups: a vocal hygiene educated group and a laryngomicrosurgical group. In the vocal hygiene group, only two cases (13.7%) were recognized subjectively as acquiring a good voice for one year. However, the surgical group obtained swift, excellent recovery of phonatory function within normal limits after one month after surgery, with delayed recovery of voice quality. In the adults, recovery of voice and phonatory function was more effective for cases of single nodules than for those of multiple nodules after laryngomicrosurgery In order to improve recovery of voice quality, we need help from an excellent voice therapist during both pre and post surgery phases.
