A case of calcifying epithelioma in the preauricular region

Calcifying epithelioma (pilomatrixoma) is an uncommon benign tumor arising from the hair matrix cells. It often affects the face, neck and upper extremities. A 25-year-old female with a calcifying epithelioma in the preauricular region is reported. It was not difficult to diagnose the tumor as a calcifying epithelioma by soft X-ray, echography and CT scan before surgery because of the calcification. CT scan was particularly useful in the diagnosis.
