A case with primary gastric MALT lymphoma showing the multiple polypoid lesions was reported. The patient was a 73-year-old woman, who had complained of epigastralgia. The upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed multiple polypoid lesions with grossly submucosal tumor-like appearance. The histologic and immunohistochemical studies of the resected specimens revealed these lesions to have the features of low-grade B-cell lymphoma of MALT type. However, the present case was distinct from those conventional primary gastric MALT lymphomas in showing multiple polypoid, but not superficial-spreading appearance, predominantly submucosal distribution of lymphoma cells, rare lymphoepithelial lesion and lack of the Helicobacter pylori. These features appear to be somewhat similar to those of the intestinal lymphoma of MALT type, and forms the basis of the present report.
