Association and management of contact dermatitis in children's atopic dermatitis

Patients with atopic dermatitis have a disorganized skin barrier function and easily develop contact dermatitis from exogenous irritants. Subsequently damaged skin makes simple chemicals such as skin care products or topical medicaments easily to penetrate the skin and get absorbed, which may result in allergic contact dermatitis. The responsible products of allergic contact dermatitis are topical medicaments, skin care products, and metals. Patch test and prick test are useful for the diagnosis of contact dermatitis. It is important to treat contact dermatitis as soon as possible. Selection of alternative products is another important matter of management of contact dermatitis in children's atopic dermatitis.
