Cell culture biochemical IC chip with cell-level biocompatibility

抄録

We have developed a new Biochemical IC (integrated circuit) chip capable of cell culture with 3D capillaries fabricated by microstereolithography. This chip set realizes a real total system from biological synthesis to biochemical analysis. Unlike conventional μ-TAS approach, our biochemical IC chip-set has whole functions such as a micro pump, an active valve and an optical monitor for real time monitoring and control. However, since conventional photo curable polymer is not biocompatible, this fundamental issue needs to be solved to realize cell culturing and further on applications. To overcome this issue, we developed a unique approach, which was high temperature heat treatment, and accomplished to fabricate the cell culture chip based on biochemical IC.
