Effects of difenamizole on the emotionality in experimental animals

The purpose of this paper is to describe the influence of 1,3 diphenyl 5(2 dimethylamino propionamide) pyrazole[difenamizole, DFZ] on the emotional behavior in open-field, on muricide and hyperemotional responses to stimuli in rats with bilateral ablations of the olfactory bulb (O.B. rat) and on isolation-induced fighting behavior of male mice. The open-field behavior in normal rats was not influenced by DFZ, but ambulation and grooming in O.B. rats were inhibited significantly. Hyperemotional responses to various stimuli were suppressed by DFZ in the O.B. rats (killer). DFZ greatly decreased both jump and attack of the O.B. rats, but did not influence muricide. DFZ markedly suppressed isolation-induced fighting of male mice in dose producing anti-nociceptive effect. It is suggested that DFZ has a moderate central depressive activity.
