Effects of naftidrofuryl oxalate on the co-induced acute and delayed amnesia

The antiamnesic effects of naftidrofuryl oxalate (LS-121) on amnesia induced by carbon monoxide (CO) in mice were investigated using the passive avoidance task method and compared with that of Ca-hopantenate and physostigmine. In the mice exposed to CO before training, at the acquisition of memory and after the consolidation of memory, acute and delayed amnesia were induced. LS-121 ameliorated any amnesia in the above-mentioned; however, the effects of the reference drugs were inferior to those of LS-121. From these results, it appears that LS-121 has an antiamnesic effect of ischemic amnesia.
