Imipramine (about 30 mg/kg a day) was given to mice orally for 14 days. β-adrenergic receptor binding in the cerebral cortex, the Forced Swimming Test and the Open Field Test was examined sequentially. β-receptor binding decreased and the wheel turning behavior in the Forced Swimming Test increased with repeated dose of imipramine. The both parameters returned to the original level relatively rapidly after the termination of the drug. The locomotor activity in the Open Field Test did not change through the all experimental days. The relationship between behavioral and neurochemical changes was discussed.
