We report our experience of operations on two cases with latex allergy. Case 1 was a 29-year-old housewife who used to work as a nurse. She was performed a Cesarean operation under a lumbar anesthesia. Case 2 was a 24-year-old nurse. She was performed an operation for a cataract under a local anesthesia. Both of them accompanied atopic dermatitis. Since they had been diagnosed as latex allergy before their operations, we could avoid any immediate reactions to latex including anaphylaxis during and after their operations by eliminating latex products and using latex-free alternatives. Recently the number of the reports on latex allergy has been increasing, it is an urgent issue to set up a guideline to manage those patients including the emergency and operation manual for latex allergy in Japan.
