We experienced a 36-year-old female patient who reacted with Finn chamber. She was a technical expart analyzing epoxy resin glue for six years. She put a small amount of an epoxy glue with soluvents on a aluminium plate, and after evaporating the solvents she analyzed the residuals. She had been suffered from a facial itching, burning and stinging for a few years. She was patch tested to find out the causative agents using Finn chamber. There was marked redness and edema at the all sites of Finn chamber. And the reactions to the test substances were difficult to evaluate. Further testing was performed using cotton lint and silky pore®. Finn chamber as is and 2% zinc chloride aqueous solution were strongly reacted, but KI chamber, Al-test, aluminium foil, anti perspirants and the other aluminium allergens were all negative. We performed metal analysis with Finn champer and KI chamber. Finn chamber was ascertained to contain 0.55 weight % of Fe which was extremely over the Fe solid solubility in aluminium (0. 052 weight %). Whereas KI chamber contained only 0. 08 weight % of Fe. So we assumed the metal ions above solid solubility in Finn chamber might be dissolved in sweat and be reacted.
