We patch-tested four kinds of antiseptics (Irgasan CF3, Methyl Paraben, TCC and Hexachlorophene) which were ingredients of some cosmetic products in the outpatients who had referred to our clinic between January, 1975 and September, 1981 (Irgasan CF3, Methyl Paraben and TCC. 1119 cases, Hexachlorophene. 170 cases). The data was investigated with respect to diseases (Melanosis faciei femininae, pigmented contact dermatitis, contact dermatitis, rosacealike dermatitis, light eruption and so on), Irgasan CF3 showed high positive rate (14.3%) in melanosis faciei femininae, so we suspected that Irgasan CF3 was one of the causes in this disorder. Methyl Paraben showed low positive rate, so we assumed it might be a safety substance.
