The purpose of this study was to evaluate of usefulness of Virtual Colonoscopy (VC) for detection of colorectal neoplasms. Helical CT was acquired using 5mm slices in width. Forty six patients underwent VC, and colonoscopy as the gold standard after VC under informed consent. As a results of this prospective study, sensitivity of VC was 56.8%, specificity was 80.8%, and accuracy was 66.7%. In lesions over 5mm in maximum length which is the same width of scan slice, the diagnostic value was improved as follows; sensitivity was 81.3%, specificity was 97.1%, and accuracy was 92%. In conclusion, VC was thought to be useful for screening of colorectal neoplasms.
