Nineteen patients with melanosis faciei feminae (MFF), of whom thirteen with patch test positive reaction to Sudan I and the rests with negative reaction to the allergen were studied compared with thirty control subjects on the immunological function tests. Sudan I positive group and whole patients group had statistically significant strong reactions to DNCB sensitization test compared with the controls (P<0.01). Sudan I positive group showed statistically significant strong reactions to PHA intracutaneous test compared with the control group (P<0.05). HLA antigens were first studied with seventeen patients by Kitasato Biochemical Laboratories. The result was that HLA-B7 antigen had the frequency of 52. which deviated significantly from the control subjects with the relative risk of 10. 48 (P<0.0000997). Further studies on HLA antigens performed by Tokyo Clinical Laboratory made it clear HLA-B7 antigen was not an associated antigen with MFF and that there exist some differences in the results of examination of HLA antigens between two laboratories.
