We investigated the relationship between the fever and the disappearance or decrease of lesion contrast on contrast enhanced CT images after 2 weeks of sorafenib treatment for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Subjects were 64 patients who began sorafenib therapy. Contrast enhanced CT images were taken at baseline and after 2 weeks of sorafenib treatment. In patients with fever, the ratio of patients demonstrating the disappearance or decrease of lesion contrast on contrast enhanced CT images was significantly higher than in those without fever (91.3% and 61.0%, respectively, p=0.010, Fisher's exact probability test). The results suggested the relationship between the fever and contrast change on contrast enhanced CT.
