The Selection of Standard Allergens

We performed patch testing with 47 kinds of Hollister-Stier allergens and 12 of Torii allergens in the patients with skin diseases who had visited our clinics from April 1982 to August 1983. From the results of patch test positive rate and reaction pattern, we selected 14 kinds of allergens as a standard battery I urusiol, mercuric chloride, cobalt sulfate, iodine, nickel sulfate, neomycin sulfate, potassium dichromate, formaldehyde, rose oil, resorcin, 1-menthol, rubber mix, benzyl alcohol, and PPDA. In addition to above the allergens, it will be better to prepare MBT and epoxy resin for testings to the patients who closely contact with these allergens. We compare our standard battery with those were selected by Dr. Kawamura and Dr. Sugai, and we found out the change of contact allergens. The kinds of contact allergens vary a great deal depending on environmental factors, so we should pay much attention to the changes of allergens� positive rate.
