The patient was a 23-year-old male with a history of recurrent intrapulmonary infections since childhood. The chest X-ray revealed multiple bullae in the right lower lung field. Pulmonary sequestration was suspected and helical computed tomography (CT) was performed. The CT findings showed an abnormally dislocated the right inferior phrenic artery into the right lung, and there was no partition between the lesion and the normal part of the lung. He was diagnosed as having Pryce III type pulmonary intralobar sequestration. The presence of abnormal artery in the lungs must be confirmed in the diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration. Angiography through the aorta has widely been used for this purpose. In this case, however, the artery was successfully found out by non intrusive methods such as plane and helical CT. The sectional images from multiple angles of the chest and abdomen made it possible to confirm the diagnosis. This result suggets that helical CT is useful in diagnosis of pulmonary sequestration.
